So you want to live a modern life with as less staff as possible?

It’s not mandatory that to live a simple life you have to become a monk or start living in a jungle or monastery detached from civilization.

If you want you can live with less along with leading a modern and rich life.

You don’t have to be Gautam Buddha or Gandhi to be simple.

You can be you, in fact, a richer you and simple.

Yes, it is true that rich people can lead a simple lifestyle

Because they can choose to live how they want, Mark Zuckerberg drives a Golf GTI but he could easily afford a Lamborghini, a Bugatti, etc. but he chose it because that was enough for him.

Warren Buffett has lived in the same house since he was 26, and his opinion about this is “why would I need a bigger house or more houses? So you can understand a mindset that leads you to the things you need, can make you able to love life with less staff despite being modern and rich.

The truth is you are not the Only Person Concerned About life with fewer things. Many are now concerned about this. So here are 14 ways to simplify your life but expand your experiences. To do less but be more.

Let It GO

You can’t live a simple life if you’re not willing to let go of what you don’t need or duplicate things. Like you have both Samsung galaxy j-5 and S-7. Let go of the duplicates.

It may seem to be difficult but is easier if you do a short time challenge. For example, let go of something for two weeks or a month and see what change it brings in your life.

Exercise Daily

Not only it can be beneficial to your health and mind but also you will be occupied and also after exercise you will be tired and need to rest instead of buying stuff or roaming around gadgets. Thus you can utilize time without stuff and simplify your life along with enriching it.

Meditate

Purpose of meditation is to g experience our mindfulness to achieve serenity. It also helps us to embrace simplicity. It promotes us to live a simpler yet peaceful life.

Be A Clean Freak

Once you get habituate to clean your house and staffs you learn that the more stuff you own, the more time it takes to clean them. So for your own time’s sake, you will want to get rid of unnecessary staffs. So cleaning will make you want a simple life with less staff.

SPEND TIME WITH DEAR ONES

Instead of answering the comment on your Facebook status or scrolling the newsfeed of your social media, spend some time with your real friends and family members. Go for a walk with them or have dinner with your family member. Or cook the favorite dish for your mother and surprise her. Eventually, you will feel the need for a smartphone or social media less and lose interest in stuff rather than real worlds which needs less stuff. Create a bond with your family. Let go of screen time free up some time for togetherness. You can just share a conversation together.

Desktop instead of the laptop

It’s true you can’t avoid the needs of technology for your work or daily life. We can’t use a typewriter or fax machine instead of a computer. But try to use a desktop because it’s not portable and takes more time to operate than a laptop. You won’t carry it everywhere and be occupied with the computer. Thus you will use it only when you need.

ASK YOURSELF QUESTIONS

For example, when I look into my closet and see a cloth that is lying there  for a long time without wearing I ask myself three questions and those are,

  1. Is it possible to make some money by selling this?
  2. Can I remember the last time I wore this cloth?
  3. What is the valid reason to keep this item still?

If I am not able to find perfectly valid answers then I have no reason to waste space for that. This is also useful while buying things. Often ask yourself “Do I really need this? Or what for? Then it will reduce your habit of increasing unnecessary stuff in your house.

Practice your hobbies

I was probably singing before I could talk. Musical theater is my passion. If I could afford it, I would just do dinner theater and live a simple life.

If you practice your hobbies or passion in your leisure time then you can be more perfect in that and also feel less need for stuff.

Write, paint, cook or take a photo. Find your passion what helps you to relax and be better and spend your time after that than wasting time after stuffs.

Disconnect The Phone From Wi-Fi

It’s   It is a facility of Wi-fi that it takes less money to use the internet but there’s always two sides of the coin. By this facility, we keep our phones connected with the internet most of the time and check it every now and then If you keep your phone disconnected for some fixed time with the internet you can break the chain with your mind and tendency to check the notifications frequently. Also, it helps you to learn to enjoy the moment and life with less virtual world and stuffs.

Relax and do nothing

Let’s begin by taking a smallish nap or two.-

Take some time in the morning or evening to just relax and do nothing intensionally.l. Spend some minutes with a cup of hot coffee or tea or take a nap.

Go For A Walk

It’s quite simple and easy. Grab your snickers and go for a walk. Not for exercise just to observe your surroundings, for fresh air. It needs no equipment and thus you learn to enjoy life without staff. I often go to work on my bicycle. You can try it too.

Turn Off The Screens

It can be televisions, smartphones, tablets or computers. This is really harmful to sit in front of screens for our bodies and minds. Limit the time spend in front of screens. Set a goal to turn off the gadgets for one or two hours a day.

Be A Reader

You may or may not be a regular book worm but grow a habit of reading every day even if it’ one page for at least thirty minutes each day. It will stimulate your mind and once you get habituate to pages you’ll feel uncomfortable with gadgets and stuff automatically.

Be Grateful

The fact is not that happy people are grateful but it’s the other way around–grateful and people are mostly happy. Have gratitude and gratefulness in your mind with what you have. Don’t compare yourself with others, there’s no end of needs but just think many people don’t have as much as you. So you need to be happy with what you’ve got. Then you will realize you don’t need any more stuff more than you need to be enriched and happy.

So, what are you waiting for? Simplify. Let go and reduce your stress in your everyday life. Free spaces, increase contentment and be enriched with less. And most importantly enjoy life to its fullest. Be rich with less.

Cleaning and organizing the house can be a kick-off and there is a cheat code of “30 minutes”. Yes, it exists. And I wish the characters of “The Clean House” theatre would know about this cheat code. They didn’t know it, but we have it! Let’s start it now.

Wait a second. Are you a die-hard metal fan? Don’t forget to turn on the favorite playlist. It’ll help you to keep moving with the cleaning stuff.

Magic to Disappear (0-10 Minutes)

Spell the magic words to disappear everything which is not organized. Be cruel about throwing out the used kinds of stuff or bottles or anything else. “You have to be cruel to be kind”.

At first, think about a hotel room.

Is there any extra sheet on the bed? Any pen or paper on the table? Left-over on the dining table? Newspaper or Magazine or remote-control on the floor? Wet towel or cloth in the bathroom? The extra power cable of the laptop or cell phone?

Answer: A BIG NO.

So, remove these things without thinking for a second. Keep the used cloths in the basket. You don’t have any basket? Okay, use your shower bucket for it. We’ll clean them later. Now, hide the stuffs inside the drawers. We’ll re-arrange them later too. Yes, there will be a next episode where we’ll discuss the elaborate process of cleaning and organizing the house.

Let’s move on. Utilize your waste-bin. Throw away the leftovers. I know, you planned to eat them on the coming weekend. well, you’ll never do it actually. I never did!

Throw away the plastic bottles, beer cans, used shampoo or deodorant bottles and old newspapers. Believe me; these will never be used to make any of those YouTube or Pinterest DIY stuffs.

Now run to your bedroom and make the bed as fast as possible. Tuck the ends of the bed-sheet under the end of the mattress and put the pillows on right places. Re-arrange the toiletries of the bathroom. Remember the spell – “No extra thing. Be cruel”. There should not be any extra things on the kitchen table. Its better to have a blank table rather than having a messy one.

Remove every extra thing from eye-sight – by throwing or by hiding. It’s a short-cut and just the starting. So, cheating is allowed. Our goal is to have a tidy house as fast as possible, not organized cabinets and drawers.

Clean-and-Chill-in-30-Minutes

Mop and Drop (10 to 25 Minutes)

Having a clean floor is more than important to have a tidy house. It really matters a lot. Sand under the feet – this feeling is exhilarating on the sea beaches, not inside our house. If you have a tendency to walk barefoot like me, you’ll hate the dust on the floor too. And another thing is – extra water on the floor is also annoying and risky. So, let’s start with mopping the floors to clean the dust and remove the last water drop.

For now, we’ll leave the thorough dusting of furniture and will concentrate on the mopping.

Ok, quiz time. Tell me the first point of mopping. Ummm, bringing the mop bucket? Right?

Noooo, wrong. At first, turn on the fan or open the windows for air circulation. It is really important to dry the floor as fast as possible after mopping. Now, use a water-dampened mop and start. You can add floor-cleaning material with fresh water for a good fragrance. Oh, do you know one thing? Mopping is a good kind of free-hand exercise. It burns calories.

So, we are all set. Everything is ready. Go! Hit the floor!!

Let’s start the mopping from the back corner of the room. With long strokes, end the mopping to the doorway. Don’t forget about the bathroom. Don’t increase the chance of slipping on the bathroom. Mop it too.

Check the sinks and floor of your kitchen. They need to be dry too. Don’t hesitate to mop them quickly.

Bell the Smell (25 to 30 Minutes)

25 minutes are gone! And we are also done with the important parts and hard works. Its time to add some fancy things. Time to ring the bell of the good smell! Spreading the good smell to create a heaven on earth.

So, after mopping the floors and removing the extra things from eye-sight, pick the bottle of air freshener.

Shake and Spray!

For the kitchen, you can use fragrant sticks too. But be alert about the fire alarms. Don’t you have anything from this list? Then don’t hesitate to use your body-spray. I do this time to time and it works. And it works really fast to remove the dump flavor of the house.

Recheck your shoes now. They should be inside the cupboard or at the corner of the entrance. Did you forget about the music? Change that playlist now. Some soothing music will work better with the fragrance.

Now, we are done! Clean yourself fast and change the cloth quickly. Yes, it was kinda work-out too. And don’t forget to click some photos of your house. You’ll definitely catch the difference.
